More than 3000 cormorants pass their winters in ponds around Cagliari in Sardinia. Every morning the winged vacationers leave Molentargius, where they spend the night perched on high tension pylons, and travel to Santa Gilla, an industrial zone where the pond is teeming with fish.
This tiny body of water lies in a humid area containing some of the richest bird life in Europe. Unfortunately, it is seriously polluted with toxic wastes and threatened by the approach of building construction. The pond is also suffering from neglect and indifference on the part of people incapable of comprehending its beauty and natural wealth.
